Wilderness explorers

The bad news: The tail end of cyclone Christine made it too windy to go to the aquarium, this huge rock pool that's perfect for snorkelling. The good news: We made the most of the cooler weather to go on an awesome hike through the bush! Jess was working so Chris, Candice, Chloe, John and I crammed into the 4WD and drove out of town to our first stop, the Green Trail. Chris took on the role of outback guide (complete with Aussie accent) and pointed out loads of cool things like nests of bull ants and termites, a huge dried out riverbed and aboriginal markings in a cave. There were a few points where we had to walk through loads of vegetation and I must admit that the Carpet Python encounter Jess and I had last week made me a little nervous, but thankfully we didn't see any snakes or spiders.

From there, it was on to the crystal pit just off the main road, which does exactly as it says on the tin. There were loads of ants, which made in difficult to look for very long, but we all picked up some pretty crystals to take home. We then drove to "Big Rock", another appropriately named landmark, and climbed to the top just in time to see all the black cloud rolling in. It then started raining, so we went home via Bush Shack Brewery, a weird little hillbilly place that does all kinds of crazy flavours of beer. Australian's have this Cherry Cream soft drink and the beer that was flavoured with that was bright pink and so sweet! They also had a circular pool table. Weird. I felt very Australian after our day out in the bush!

What I felt like
